Dear Aniket:
We need this as a cooperative effort for India, but also do not want to
bother people with it who might not be interested. So I would suggest that after sending
this reply to you copied to NEPHROL , NEPHDEVEL, MEDWEBMASTERS, TELEHEALTH, and PATHO-L
that we then make this a private discussion between us copied to the list of known Indian
subscribers to NEPHROL and NEPHDEVEL that I have listed below. Others can request
inclusion so it is "opt in" and then eventually we will create a special
discussion group just for this.
As you have probably seen yesterday we have added 22 new resources to the innovations
on the http://www.cyber-medicine.org
page and today we will add more that have been suggested to us and complete the comparison
of Medical Matrix data from August 14th and November 14th. Everyone can feel free to
suggest new sites to add by writing to me Kim.Solez@UAlberta.CA
.
The problem of course with the India initiative is that we do not have a Medical Matrix
for India, so it will be up to those working directly on the project to identify the
sites. The other challenge in India is that keyboarding ("typing") is sometimes
culturally thought of as a task to be assigned to subordinates, which represents quite a
challenge to direct physician participation in Internet activities!
Anyway here below is the list of known Indian subscribers to our nephrology lists. I do
not have ready access to the same information for MEDWEBMASTERS, TELEHEALTH, and PATHO-L.
All the best. - Kim

Dear Sir,
How do we go about in acheiving this aim? The penetration of computers is pretty low at
present as per the statistics but most of the doctors have a PC which is used mostly as an
electronic typewriter. Internet is thought of as a mode of entertainment rather than a
information resource. What I propose is that we will start a similar activity such as
yours in India and then affiliate it to the original site. Please guide me in this matter.

I would be very interested in helping with this. My colleague Michele Hales and I visited
India earlier this year and were very impressed with the high tech revolution there.
Physicians there have so far not fully embraced this change and we would like to assist
however we can in moving the health sector to the next level.
